- This requires not only planning the appropriate questions to ask, but listening and asking follow-up questions as necessary.
- The Investigator I is expected to compile the investigative documents and ensure they are saved, correctly processed, and maintained in the office’s case management database 5.

About the employer
Investigators provide professional and technical support to the Office of Equal Employment and Title IX by investigating and resolving discrimination and/or harassment complaints on the basis of sex, gender, marital status, pregnancy, race, color, ethnicity, national origin, age, disability, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, or veteran status, and by coordinating conflict resolution efforts. The Office of Equal Employment and Title IX has two investigator positions: Investigator I and Investigator II. An employee holding the Investigatory I position will generally have less extensive prior investigatory experience and/or less developed knowledge and experience with Title IX, the federal
laws, best Human Resources practices, and their application within the context of higher education, than employees in the Investigator II position will have. The Investigator I is expected to prepare an investigative plan. This includes analyzing the claim to determine what witnesses are necessary and to plan the relevant questions to ask each witness.
