SUMMARY:Nevada in Our Teeth: Jennifer Battisti and Andrew Romanelli
LOCATION:Bob & Alison Kasner Academic Building\, Auditorium
DESCRIPTION:Nevada in Our Teeth\, Crossing Highway 50: A Poet’s Guide to th
 e Loneliest Road in America\nJoin us on Thursday\, November 19th at 6 pm i
n the auditorium of the Kasner Academic Building for a conversation with a
uthors Jennifer Battisti and Andrew Romanelli.\n\nLas Vegas born poets\, c
urious about the idea of loneliness in response to traveling across and ex
ploring the “Loneliest Road in America\, Nevada’s Highway 50. Life Magazin
e gave the 287 mile stretch the moniker “The Loneliest Road in America in
a 1986 article that claimed the area offered no attractions or points of i
nterest\, had little services along the way\, and advised travelers to pos
sess “survival skills.” The poets’ work considers how our perceptions of l
oneliness may have changed. Who decides a point of interest\, and can the
landscape alone offer enough of an attraction to make the trek worth it? \
